Fabric Fun Zone by Mary MacPhee

Meet Mary MacPhee, the fabric-loving maker behind Fabric Fun Zone!

An Ottawa local and lifelong lover of all things fabric, Mary has been sewing for more than 25 years. What started as her favourite way to recharge and unwind eventually grew into a handmade business. Although Mary will happily admit that finding a way to fund her ever-growing fabric collection may have had something to do with it!

The idea for Fabric Fun Zone began when Mary made her first set of paperless paper towels as a way to reduce waste and save a little money at home. They worked so well that her family practically stopped buying disposable paper towels altogether. Soon, friends and family were asking for sets of their own, and Mary realized there were plenty of people looking for practical, reusable products that could also be colourful and beautiful.

And just like that, Fabric Fun Zone was born.

Today, Mary creates a collection of handmade textile goods designed to bring a little colour, practicality and sustainability into everyday life. Every towel, cozy and fabric creation is handmade with care, intention and — of course — plenty of beautiful fabric.

We're so happy to welcome Mary and Fabric Fun Zone to The Dockside Collective and to share another talented Canadian maker with our customers.

And if you ever wonder whether Mary really needs more fabric...

The answer is always yes.
